Mary, Mary Quite Contrary – How does resistance show?
This is how resistance shows – “With silver bells and cockle shells and …………” every trick in the book to make you think that this has nothing to do with YOU!
I’m going to tell you that it has everything to do with you, and to help you understand the subtle and peculiar ways it will show up I want to tell you of a great example of resistance that a potential client was experiencing just this week.
I’m running a Money Myth 1 Day Master Mind in October for a select few clients (and there are still one or two spots available by the way, if you’d like to be considered) to really dig down deep into what your particular relationship with money really is all about and how your current beliefs around money can prevent so much of what you want really happening for you.
One of the women I spoke to wants to leave her job in accountancy and set up a business addressing the relationship that professional healers and spiritual people have with money because her passion is money and prosperity work.
When answering the questions I posed to find out whether she would be a fit for joining me on this very select day, here is the gist of how important it was for her:
- On a level of 1 -10 it was a 10 in importance for her to move away from her current job
- She has health issues as a result of what
Is it time for you to kick that unfulfilling and unrewarding relationship into touch?

Whenever I ask my clients and customers what is it that they most want to change in their lives – having more money is always in the list, usually at the top.
We all know that more money provides choice, flexibility and treats – and the more that you have, the more you can do to help others in terms of giving through charities or re-investing into your business so that your service can grow and grow and reach more people.
So, what’s the big deal about having more – or not having more as most people experience? What is it about money that makes it so hard to come by and keep?
Of all the conditioning we experience as we grow up, all the limitations around how much money is available and that if you give money to someone somehow you are poorer for it – our biggest struggle and deepest beliefs are around the limited supply of money – because that is what you see and hear most often. But you can choose to believe that, or not, can you not?
Having more or less money is all tied into how deeply you believe you are the creator of your world – all that you see in front of you on a day to day basis. And I mean ALL. Not just what you experience from day to day, but your family,
What happens when you walk looking behind you?
Walking while looking behind you, and becoming distracted, is a classic comedy sketch (remember Rowan Atkinson and the lamp post in ‘Not The 9 O’Clock News’?) but when it happens to you as a business owner, it can have seriously unfunny consequences.
The only thing that can grow is the thing that you put your energy into, and as a business owner, naturally that IS your business. However, who and what is your business? For coaches, therapists and trainers it is your clients. If you have no clients, then you have no business. So growing your business depends entirely on your commitment to your clients and the people who follow you, and, on where you rely on your source of inspiration and information to come from. If you start to put your energy and attention elsewhere, and start looking behind you, you may well end up with a big headache.
In the physical world we rely on our 5 senses to glean information from – our hearing, sight, taste, touch and smell. To rely solely on these 5 areas as a source of information is to rely on a limited source of information.
However, when you accept information from source and use your higher mental faculties of will, imagination, intuition, perception, memory and reason to receive and create from and through – then the source of information available to you is truly UN-limited.
But where you focus your attention is crucial to how your business will grow – or not.
It’s time to become intolerant if you are serious about making a positive and growing impact on yourself and others this year
What is she talking about, I can hear you think? Intolerance is normally something that you would strive to eradicate from your life, and I expect you take pride in the progress you have made in becoming more tolerant towards others and less judgmental. And I applaud you for that.
But I am not talking about that kind of intolerance – the not tolerating of others. I am talking about noticing what in your life you are tolerating that is holding you back. What are you prepared to put up with, what do you put up with currently that is keeping you playing smaller than you really want, what level of service are you getting from people that leaves you feeling dissatisfied, but still you say nothing?
So, here’s the thing. If you are experiencing not the inward flow of money, clients or success that you are wanting, then your own tolerance levels are too high and you are accepting those outcomes and experiences as tolerable.
When your profits are low it is because your tolerance level is high. You are comfortable being uncomfortable. Your level of toleration needs to come down and the level of your profits will proportionally increase.
So take a moment from today every day to notice what is showing up in your life that you are tolerating that is not serving you in your own growth – and think about how you can change that. Here are a couple of tips:
- You could just decide
