Hi, my name is Dawn Baxter and I live in the North East of England. Growing up on a council estate in the 1970’s was at times challenging but I learnt many life lessons, one being the importance of community. I believe this gave me a solid foundation and moral code. After leaving school I worked in various secretarial roles for many years and at first was content with my work, it allowed me to pay the bills, go on holiday and live a reasonably comfortable lifestyle but there was one vital thing missing – job satisfaction, a feeling of accomplishment! The years passed, my two daughters were growing up, becoming more independent and I suddenly found myself turning 40. I felt it was time for a new challenge and thought to myself, “I want something more from my work life.” I decided to go back into education. I hadn’t studied since Secondary school and the thought of ‘kick starting’ my brain was daunting but once I had taken that first step I knew it was the right one. I chose an ‘Introduction to Counselling’ course as I have always enjoyed helping others, taking great pleasure in supporting them through difficult periods of their lives. Four years later I graduated from Sunderland University after achieving my Counselling Degree. Who’d have thought it?! I did…..just shows what you can achieve if you have belief in your abilities and the right mind set.
Over the years I have had the privilege to work with people from all walks of life, with various issues and watched proudly as they have overcome them, being able to move forward. Despite this I wanted to continue to improve myself and my skills and started looking at how to do this. I was online searching when something caught my eye…..it was an event held by Ali Campbell, ‘A Day to Change Your Life’ – I was intrigued so I delved more. I found myself contacting Ali to book my ticket, attended the event, loved it and without question knew this was what I wanted to pursue further. I went on to complete Ali’s NLP, Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching courses which has proven to be a life changing decision in every possible way. Using the tools I have gained from these courses has taken me on a journey of self-discovery and enabled me to help others achieve the same. If you have become ‘stuck’ it doesn’t have to be that way, it can change, YOU can change it.
